Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said US National Security spokeswoman John Kirby's call for a negotiated solution to the Ukraine crisis was hypocrisy and an attempt to calm before the fighting resumed.

“There is nothing behind these false calls for peace, but a hypocritical and frank attempt to continue the fight and inflict strategic defeat on us,” Zakharova said. “A well-known conversation, the more Washington continues to encourage terrorist attacks by Kyiv and Ukrainian saboteurs, the more complicated the diplomatic solution will become.”
